We are Jason and Mandy – just a couple of millennials with three boys, a mortgage and regular everyday lives. As young kids, we were always spending time outdoors and camping with our own families, then as we got married and had our own kids, it was never a second thought to take them camping, hiking and exploring. They grew up strapped to our backs in a Kelty and now it's a part of them as well.
Join us! It's time to get outside for an adventure.
Visit our blog for tips, ideas and see how we put adventure in the everyday.
I'm often asked if we have any advice for Mt. Rushmore and the surrounding area. Since we're pretty much in love with the Black Hills, you can bet I do!! And strangely, finding much specific visitor information online is hard to come by.
Oh March how you tease us, on Tuesday we're dreaming of summer with your 68 degree temperatures and by Thursday we're pouting over 3" of snow. Anyone else have the early-spring blues? Since it's too chilly to head outside in shorts and kayak lets dream over a movie night. Grab the popcorn, your favorite quilt, get comfy on the couch and watch one these favorites.
Well beloved readers you've been with us through a whirlwind camper purchase and renovation this past year! Honestly, we didn't even expect to purchase a camper last summer! So when it fell in our laps we were happily surprised.
Until we opened the door that is.
Now, if you have an older RV that has been exposed to the elements for long I'm sure your trim might have looked something like ours. Yellowed, broken, split, dirty. It's time to make it fresh and perfect again.
Now that the big updates are done, we are turning to the little items. We decided to replace the electrical outlets for a few reasons. Honestly, it was mostly for looks. Everything else has been updated, why not bring in shiny white outlets.
Can you believe it? We have made it to the last BIG update on our 1999 Palomino Stallion pop-up camper! The curtains! Now while we still have a few more little items here and there. The curtains gave it all a nice finishing touch and we were finally able to stand back and let it all sink in.
It is our passion and we want to share that with you!
The purpose of our blog is to inspire others to go camping! It doesn’t matter if you’re single, a young family, or grandparents. It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie, your camping gear has a pile of dust or that shiny new RV is already parked in the driveway. NOW is the time to go outside and create memories in the soil, trees, and water. Our dream is to give you motivation, ideas, tips, and recommendations on how to make camping your new favorite hobby.
We share everything from our own camping gear and favorite campgrounds to our experience hiking with kids and maybe a few kayaking pictures along the way. The dream of this blog is to inspire you and your family to get out into nature and experience it together. Whether that means a short day hike with your teenagers, a night at the campground in a tent with little kids (like us!), or maybe you already have an RV and just looking for some new ideas. Whatever your situation there is always an opportunity to get out into nature and it is so important to take that next step! We hope you’ll find that inspiration here at Campfire Travelers!
